Well, after 4 weeks in Maine, sunny days, rainy days, swimming, boating, four wheeling, eating, kayaking, canoeing, bowling, sleeping, fishing, visiting 2 Maine fairs and of course working, we are sad to say that we will be heading home today to get back to reality. We are so lucky to be able to take our business with us wherever we go and to be able to take care of our clients while we are over 300 miles away. Now that our work-ation is over we need to get back home to prepare for Hurricane Irene which is headed our way. Wish us luck! See you next year Maine!

COLEwebdev’s yearly Work-ation has begun. We are in day 6 of our Maine vacation and we are having a great time. We are enjoying the great outdoors while also getting work done each day. The internet is such a fantastic thing, being able to check our email from our phones while out on a trail is just great. We always know what is going on with our client websites, even when we are out and about in the wilds of Maine.
We call our Maine vacation a “Work-ation” because we get to enjoy both a vacation away from home and we also get to work while we are away. Thanks to laptops, we can take our computer with us almost anywhere we go.
Only 25 more days to go, next up, canoeing on the lake, swimming, campfire….and of course some work too.

If you have not had the chance to stop and take a break from work this Summer, now is the time to do it. The busiest time for Cape Codders is always the Summer, and sometimes we forget to stop and smell the roses. We just came back from a 3 week work-ation and it was a very needed vacation for sure. We packed up our computers and our family and headed to Maine for 3 weeks. We drove a solid 8 hours up into the Wilderness for 2 weeks and survived off of Satellite Internet access and then moved a little farther down in Maine for the last week of the trip. Overall, even though we did still work while we were away, it was worth it. Just being away from home, away form the craziness and the tourists was a nice change.
If you find yourself drowning in work and no space to breath, take a break. We all need a break. Go on a small trip, even if it is to a local campground to enjoy the Cape Cod woods for a weekend. In the end, you will be soo happy you took some time for yourself.
