A Spring Refresh

Spring time is a time of renewal for mother nature and business throughout Cape Cod. With so many of us business-folk benefiting directly and indirectly from the summer season and the visitors it brings, spring time is critical to making sure you're business is ready to have a great and profitable year.

This extends to your business website, and although the winter is the best time to update and overhaul your website, spring time is truly your last chance before the heat, traffic and haze of summer sets in.

Here's a quick list of website tips for Spring:

  1. Publish new content. Your visitors will want to see some new content while they also emerge from the cold winter months. New content posted on your website reflects positively on your businesses health.
  2. Spring time specials. Another season means another change to utilize on shifting buying patterns of your customers. Take advantage of this new season to run a special or promotion to get people out of their homes and on main street.
  3. Design refresh. Mother nature provides our landscape with new colors and looks each year. This process can be translated to your website. Website designs that evolve with the season (think Google's logo changes but bigger) are a great way to keep things fresh on your site.
  4. Try something new. 2010 is long gone, and with 2011 brings new technologies and new devices (tablets, smartphones etc.) to consume web content. Get an edge on your competitors and use this new season and year to try something progressive online. Mobile or touch optimized versions of your website are a great way to appeal users of these new platforms.
  5. Spring newsletter. While we faithfully publish a newsletter every month, if your business does not, spring is a great time to reach out to your customers and leads via an email newsletter.
  6. Be receptive. I mentioned earlier about how buying habits for consumers change as the seasons transition. One way to keep in touch with real-time changes is by utilizing Twitter advanced search. Tourism based businesses can use Twitter search to find customers traveling to and staying on Cape Cod. This gives you an opportunity to learn from, and share with them your business offerings.
