Business: Morris Creative Services Owner: Brian Morris Website: www.morriscreativeservices.com (site / business no longer active)
How did you get started with your business?
I have been on the Cape since 1991, after relocating from Pennsylvania. I actually started the business in 1988 in Pennsylvania.
Tell us about your business:
I provide audio recording and production services. This can entail anything from recording a simple voice-over to writing and producing a jingle to recording and editing audiobooks to sound design for local theater. I also do quite a bit of remote recording, music arranging and composing, as well as editing and production for radio programs. My studio is built around a Macintosh-based Pro Tools LE system, which works great for just about everything.
Tell us about yourself, where do you find inspiration?
From meeting and working with talented, interesting people.
What do you love about your business?
The nature of my business is such that I never know who’s going to walk through the door or call to to book a session. I get to meet a lot of authors, voice-over people, academic folks, actors, etc., especially in summer when many of these folks are here on vacation and need a recording studio that’s close by.
What are some ways that you promote your business?
Until working with COLEwebdev to (finally!) produce a website, it was pretty much word of mouth, and repeat business from people who’ve been to my studio before.
Do you have any advice to offer others in your same business?
Making a living year-round on the Outer Cape takes a bit of creativity and mainly, versatility. I try to offer as broad a range of audio services as possible, and that helps to make it all work.
