Email Safety – To Click or not to Click
Halloween has arrived and we are excited to walk the local neighborhoods with our kids to trick or treat! A great place to take your kids for Halloween is the Welflleet Drive In Theater, for an event called Trunk or Treat. This is where you will find trunks decorated for Halloween, and lots of candy, free hot dogs and cider. This event is put on by the Wellfleet Firefighters Relief Association. 4:00PM to 7:00PM
COLEwebdev will be participating in this years Trunk or Treat event, stop by and join us for a howlin’ good time!
Email Safety – To Click or not to Click
We get emails from clients throughout the year, asking us to confirm if an email they received is REAL or SPAM. Many times, the email they are referring to is indeed SPAM. It may be hard to determine whether an email is Real or not because spammers know how to make an email look legitimate. Below are a few tips to follow:
Look at the Email Address
Legitimate companies send emails through a server based out of their company website (for example, [email protected]). If you see a long string of numbers in front of the @ sign or the name of a free email service before the .com (or any other domain), you need to question the legitimacy of the email in question.
Hover
Hover your mouse over any hyperlinks in the email. If the link you see is not related to the business the email is coming from, than more than likely the email is SPAM. If you still want to visit the company website on your own, type the company into your browser and log into your account, separate from the email.
Use this practice whenever you receive an email that you are unsure of, and if all else fails, forward us the email, and we can let you know if it is OK to click or not.
