Divi Theme Builder Basics

We’ve been using the Divi theme to build websites for over 10 years!  In that time we’ve become quite proficient, however, our clients are often using Divi for the first time.  With every website launch, we offer tutoring, however, once a client is on their own they might need some additional help.  That’s where the comprehensive Divi documentation becomes important, however, the library is vast and can be overwhelming.  Here are the “highlights” based on our experience with building and tutoring:

You create a page with sections, rows, and modules:

Divi Sections – Sections (blue) are used to group similar content, as well as an option for “full width”.

Divi Rows – Rows (green) go inside sections and are what will hold your modules. They can be split into multiple columns.

Once you’ve setup your page sections, rows and columns it’s time to insert content with the following modules:

Divi Text Module:  The meat and potatoes of page building, the text module is for text and more!

Divi Button Module: Buttons can be created to link to other pages with animation and utilize a large library of icons.

Divi Image Module: A close companion to the text module, image modules allow you much more customization than using inserting images within text modules.

Divi Blurb Module: We like the blurb module because it contains 3 elements (a title, image, and text) and can be easily customized to a wide variety of looks.

Customizing the design of that content is important, which is where the robust Divi design controls shine:

Design & Other Settings:  Each section, row and module has settings for content, design and other advanced options.  Knowing how these options work will help you customize any section, row or module to your liking.

Divi Library: Once your comfortable with the basics, you might want to save and re-use certain modules and even entire rows or sections.
