Business: Nauset Management
Owner: Jon Clark

How did your business get started?
My management base came to me naturally through building which was a full time endeavor back in the late 90’s. Over the years to follow I had the luxury of growing into the shift as it evolved.

Tell us about yourself.
Born and raised on the Cape and into a third generation of building, I found my way over the bridge for college as well as running a number of commercial construction projects but returned to my roots and never looked back. Living in Orleans, I find myself in the center of my service areas which include the lower and outer Cape where I’ve been blessed to see continued growth in both management as well as real estate business.

Where do you find inspiration?
Defying any number of odds to make things happen for good people.

What do you love about your business?
No doubt delivering peace of mind and problem solving on the management side. On the real estate end of the equation, I very much enjoy being a nonconformist in the business. Swimming against the tide has served me well and no doubt my buyers and sellers as I reinvest anywhere from $35 – $75k per year in them be it picking up the tab for the innocuous steps that get us to closing but also restructuring my commission in order to bridge gaps; immensely gratifying.

What are some ways that you promote your business?
I have been blessed with tremendous word-of-mouth advertising. Not long ago the young whippersnappers at COLEwebdev dragged me kicking and screaming into the digital world and beyond a web presence, which no doubt makes any business an international player, I engage in a few print advertising opportunities at a local level but more so as a supportive role rather than a return on investment and for a little over a year now I’ve dabbled in a few radio spots which have proven worthy.

Do you have any advice for other business owners?
Grow into your business. There is a sacrifice that comes with it but never overwhelm yourself with quantity as you will quickly grow to resent what you’re doing rather than enjoying the building process. Loving what you do is vastly underrated.
