Google My Business

Apr 26, 2017 | Resources

After all these years, Google remains the undisputed king of Internet search.  What this means for your business, is that many customer interactions with your business will begin at Google.

While also still delivering traditional search results, Google now also maintains a business directory that allows searchers to quickly find important information about your business, such as telephone numbers, hours, directions, and more.  This information is displayed alongside, and sometimes above search results.

Curating this data about your business is key to making sure a customer is presented with accurate and flattering information when performing a search.

The easiest way to see what your Google business listing is to simply visit Google, and search for your business name.

To the right, or on top (depending on your device) will be a card or section that displays your directory information.  Below is ours for reference:

If you see something that’s inaccurate, or incomplete, you will want to claim the listing by clicking the link titled “Own this business?”  Even if your data is accurate, you’ll still want to claim your listing as Google also offers an array of search data and tools that will be helpful to you. Some example benefits:

  • Respond to reviews – Tackle negative reviews and thank those you leave positive.
  • See search query data – See what users typed in to find you.
  • Click and call tracking – See how many people clicked your listing at Google.
  • Directions – See how many people looked for directions to your business
